GF42: NEW Trimaran DESIGN CONCEPT of the FUTURE…

These days is built a foiling Carbon Trimaran with a very new DESIGN CONCEPT of the FUTURE.. it is based on a new design method by American designer GREG LYNN, former professor for architecture.

GF 42 tri

The Trimaran GF42 (42 Feet length, 32 feet beams) was built over 2 years with a total weight of only 2.8 tons (3 berth), equipped with a rotating Wing Mast of 64 feet length. The sail area: 112.5 qm (upwind) and 191.5 qm (down wind).

The heavily use of computer based “Fluid Dynamic Analysis” (CFD) can be seen clearly in the hulls and foils… sadly the brand new mast broke in spring 2015 during first test… the team is waiting now for replacement as the mast must be built completly new. So all pics”without sails” 🙂
