PHUKET (8 July 2015, 10:12AM) – The wild winds Phuket has been subjected to over the past week are forecast to ease just in time for the Multihull Solutions Regatta, which gets underway on Thursday (July 9).
According to the latest weather forecasts, this year’s edition is to be blessed with near-perfect racing conditions, with winds easing to 15-17 knots.
Following the great success of the 2014 regatta, this the second year that Multihull Solutions has provided support as major sponsor of the Ao Chalong Yacht Club (ACYC) event.
The “multihull only” regatta serves up three days of exciting racing and serious fun on and off the water, with races on and around Chalong Bay and the post-race festivities held at the ACYC clubhouse.
The regatta is open to all multihulls (catamarans and trimarans) with a length overall of greater than 6 meters that are acceptable to the Race Committee, and private and charter multihulls are welcome to enter.
The Regatta will have the following classes (subject to entries received):
- Class 1: Racing Multihulls with valid OMR ratings
- Class 2: Firefly 850 Sports One Design
- Class 3: Cruising Multihulls without OMR ratings and
- Class 4: Classic Multihulls.
Late to arrive in Phuket but might make it onto the course in time is Ray Waldron’s Corsair Pulse 600 trimaran.
Phuket-based Multihull Solutions Asia, headed by managing director Andrew de Bruin, scooped the rest of the world with the launch of the very first two Corsair Pulse 600s earlier this year.
“The Corsair Pulse 600s are a very exciting new model with huge potential for the industry, as they are the ideal family leisure and day racing boat,” Andrew said.
“We are proud to be the first in the world to sell these entry-level boats, and we are confident of taking plenty more future orders in the region.”
The Corsair Pulse 600 is a folding, trailerable trimaran that appeals to a diverse range of clientele, including families, campers, holiday resorts and sailing schools.
Its simple functionality and impressively low weight is complemented by the boat’s sleek contemporary design, easy handling and dynamic performance on the water.
The model is the smallest in the Corsair fleet and is perfect for novices wishing to learn the ropes. Its reinforced carbon construction ensures durability, low weight and strength, and design innovations including high-volume floats and reverse bows deliver a safe and exhilarating sailing experience for all ages.
